Anna Wheeler Gentry’s new e-book, entitled Politics on Broadway: Controversy in Red and Black, will be released Fall 2010 by Kendall/Hunt Publishers. This study of Broadway from the 1930s through 1950s will highlight various House Un-American Activities Committee investigations, Red Channels, controversial Broadway play/musical plots of the era, theatre companies, blacklisted performing artists, choreographers, directors, as well as pivotal writers, composers, and lyricists, featuring Yip Harburg and his song lyrics throughout.
On March 29, 2011 Andrew Lloyd Webber's much-anticipated adaptation of The Wizard of Oz will start performances at London's Palladium. Webber will retain the beloved original score by Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen, and also add some new songs of his own.
